Ford recognized the importance of racing in building its performance reputation, both on the drag strip and in NASCAR super speedway racing. “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday” was quickly becoming the motto of Detroit manufacturers, and there was no place better to showcase the performance of the latest vehicles than the high-banked NASCAR tracks at Daytona and Talladega. In the summer of 1962 Henry Ford II declared that the AMA “safety resolution,” its ban on racing, “has come to have neither purpose nor effect,” and with that, Ford was back in racing. Ford’s Total Performance program began and with it some of the most famous names in stock car racing—Holman-Moody, Fred Lorenzen, the Wood Brothers, Bud Moore and Banjo Matthews. Even Petty Enterprises was among the teams in the Total Performance era.

This “Wynn’s Friction Proofing” Galaxie 2-Door Sedan is a tribute to the Holman-Moody stock cars of the period, costing in excess of $100,000 to construct. It could be eligible for historic venues such as Goodwood, Laguna Seca and Darlington. According to the owner, it is in excellent condition following a major refurbishment at the end of 2009, which included the engine, a new alternator and total transmission rebuild. It notched 2010 podium finishes at Darlington, Mosport (1:39:6) and New Jersey Motorsports Park. Having been constructed in 2005 and completed in 2007, it was built using correct Holman-Moody parts and includes a full fire suppression system and eight-point roll cage, per vintage racing regulations.

The 410 hp Ford 427 cid V-8 has been balanced and blueprinted as well as constructed with appropriate hardware. A complete list of the impressive specifications/modifications is available for inspection upon request.
