2002 Ferrari 575 F-1 Maranello

  • Chassis no. ZFFBV55A220129323

Sold for $121,000

515 hp, 5,748 cc V-12 engine, electro-hydraulic manual “F-1” transmission, four-wheel independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 98"

• 0 – 150 mph in 22 seconds

• 12,300 miles from new

• Original price of over $260,000

Introduced in 2002, the Ferrari 575 Maranello was a much improved version of its 550 predecessor, which itself, as a classic front engine/rear driver Grand Tourer, has often been described as the modern Ferrari 365 GTB “Daytona.” Upgrades included a renewed interior, bigger brakes, a larger and more powerful engine, improved aerodynamics, an adaptive suspension and the efficient Magneti Marelli paddle-shift F-1 transmission. With a stout 515 hp on tap, the 575 Maranello F-1 sprints from zero to 60 mph in only 4.2 seconds, zero to 150 mph in 22 seconds and is capable of a top speed of 202 mph.

Famous French journalist Paul Frere first drove the 575 Maranello on July 1, 2002 and loved the performance, the paddle-shift F-1 gearbox, the all-alloy body panels, the driving position and the car’s astounding agility on Ferrari’s Fiorano test circuit. Car & Driver Editor Csaba Csere wrote:

For a car capable of running 200 mph, the Maranello is astonishingly plush and refined. Through the wizardry of electronics, its suspension soaks up the fractures of our Michigan roads while maintaining the excellent body control required by a machine this rapid. Although the Maranello accelerates ferociously even at triple-digit speeds, it always remains stable and secure. One reason is the superb F-1 gearbox, which lets you keep both hands on the wheel while the electronics dispense seamless shifts. It is the definitive ultra-performance GT, and were I inclined to challenge the Cannonball coast-to-coast record, the 575M would be my machine of choice.

This Maranello is in superb condition and features carbon-fiber cabin trim, an updated Alpine audio and navigation system, two-piece modular alloy road wheels, silver brake calipers, Scuderia Prancing Horse fender badges and a sumptuous unmarked two-tone tan leather interior. Sold new to California resident John Statts in 2002 from Ferrari/Maserati of Orange County, Costa Mesa, California, this 575 F-1 Maranello was also serviced by the same dealership in the period 2002 – 2006. Statts moved to Georgia, taking the car with him where maintenance work was performed by Ferrari of Atlanta, Georgia. According to invoices on file, a full engine service was completed at 10,045 miles in 2007, including new timing chest gears, pulley, four bearings and timing belts, as well as a water pump rebuild. Sometime after this, the gorgeous, original-paint “Rosso Barchetta” Maranello was sold to the Robert Ianucci Collection, from where it was purchased by the current owner in 2010. Certainly one of the most attractive Ferraris ever designed, this 575M is a fully serviced, low mileage example and unquestionably the most stylish ride for dinner in the city or a weekend at the shore.
