152 bhp, 2,775 cc V-6 engine, three Weber 40 DCN 12 carburettors, four-speed manual transmission, independent front coil-spring suspension, rigid rear axle with longitudinal leaf-spring suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 2,550 mm

  • The ultimate Flaminia with Zagato coachwork
  • Long-term Italian ownership by enthusiasts
  • Recent considerable restoration work

Lancia’s lauded Flaminia, featuring a chassis designed by Antonio Fessia, a 90-degree V-6, and a rear-mounted transaxle, was offered in a range of coachbuilt variants. The ultimate iteration was the Flaminia Super Sport 2.8, which boasted an enlarged 3C engine that had larger Weber 40 DCN 12 carburettors and could produce 152 horsepower. It also wore a restyled body with recessed headlamps and a more sharply defined Kammback tail.

The Flaminia Super Sport 2.8 was produced only in limited numbers from 1964 to 1967, and its revised design by Carrozzeria Zagato and more powerful engine made it the model of choice for many. It is stunningly beautiful and one of the loveliest faces to have come from the renowned Milanese coachworks.

The Zagato Super Sport offered here was imported into Italy in April 1982, and it has had a succession of Italian enthusiast owners over the last three decades. Since 1992, it has remained a part of a prominent collection that has included all variants of the Flaminia 2.8 chassis, and it has been the star of that collection. It has recently undergone a full repaint in an original shade of metallic green, which has reportedly been used on only a handful of Super Sports, as well as a complete service of the brake callipers, pads, and hoses and a sorting of the engine, carburettor, and starter. The interior has been preserved, as has the original window glass and tool set.

Whilst the engine is still in need of breaking-in, the consignor notes that the car drives very well, with a vibration-free transmission, smooth clutch, and a generously powerful engine.

This is a must for any Italian car collection, as it is a classic that even one of Italy’s greatest actors, Marcello Mastroianni, was unable to resist.

Moteur V6, 2 775 cm3, 152 ch, trois carburateurs Weber 40 DCN 12, boîte manuelle à quatre rapports, roues avant indépendantes à ressorts hélicoïdaux, pont arrière rigide sur ressorts à lames longitudinaux et quatre freins à disque. Empattement : 2 550 mm.
