Michigan International Spring Classic Car Auction
Ypsilanti, Michigan (April 1, 2005) – Country superstar Alan Jackson’s passion for car songs transcends into his collection of classic automobiles. One of them, a 1985 Shelby 427 Cobra Replica Roadster, will be offered along with over 400 classic, sports, hotrods and muscle cars corralled for the RM Classic Cars’ Michigan International Spring Classic Car Auction at the Novi Expo Center, April 22, 23 & 24, 2005.
Jackson’s Cobra was custom built to his high-performance specifications and is personally autographed by the legendary Cobra builder himself, Carroll Shelby.
“Spring is traditionally the time when collectors bring their cars out of hibernation and take them to market,” says Dan Spendick of RM Classic Cars - the world’s largest vintage automobile auction and restoration companies. “You can find your dream car here, and just come to dream,” adds Spendick.
Some of the other significant auction highlights include:
1968 Plymouth GTX Convertible – An eight-year restoration. Finished in triple white and loaded with power options, correct 5-spoke mags, 440 Magnum and all original sheet metal.
1961 Studebaker Hawk Street Rod – Featured in Popular Hot Rodding and Studebaker magazines. Complete frame-off restoration. Powered by a Buick 3.8 liter Grand National engine w/ Garret turbo.
1934 Hupmobile Aero Dynamic Sedan – Designed by the famous Raymond Loewy. A largely unrestored original example from the Art Deco era with good mechanicals and nice cosmetics.
1974 Jaguar Series XKE Roadster – Only 20,770 original miles. Willow Green, leather interior, black top, 4-speed manual, 4.2 liter in-line 6, factory A/C. All books and records. Cosmetic and mechanical restoration just completed.
Running simultaneously with car auction will be an exclusive offering from the “world’s largest” collection of toy trains and accessories from the Richard & Linda Kughn Collection and Lionel Train’s famous New York dealer “Madison Hardware - all for sale at NO-RESERVE. Interested bidders can bid online, by proxy or in person. A full color catalog is available for $35 and features over 1500 lots. Admission is $10 for a day pass or $17 for a three-day weekend pass, with children under 12 free. Admission is good for both car and train auctions.
During the auction weekend, RM will also offer a large assortment of automobilia, including signs, toys, memorabilia, pop machines and antique gas pumps for auction.
