With the launch of the all-new Type 964 in 1989, Porsche made a true effort in modernizing the 911 for the first time in its history, benefiting from the lessons learned with the mighty 959. The new 964-generation 911 Turbo was presented in 1991, retaining the 3.3-liter engine of the previous generation, but putting out 20 more horsepower.

Characterized by a more docile and refined response, the new 964 did not please all Turbo customers, who were demanding more power and a sharper acceleration. Willing to satisfy this request, Porsche then presented the new 3.6-litre version Turbo in 1993, which was equipped with a new flat-six engine based on the one fitted to the 911 Carrera 4. Now producing 360 bhp, the new model had larger 18-in. wheels, lower suspension, an anti-roll bar in the front and an overall meaner look.

If the newer and more potent Turbo wasn’t enough for the sportiest customers, Porsche also offered the optional X88 factory power upgrade kit, which raised the output to a staggering 385 bhp. With its modified cylinder heads, bigger cams and turbocharger, the new Turbo was one of the most exciting supercars on sale at its time. Despite its breath-taking performance and exhilarating figures, only 51 cars were fitted with this desirable power upgrade, which has now become a highly sought-after feature for the 964 Turbo 3.6 model.

This particular 964 Turbo 3.6 was delivered to its first owner through Strähle KG, an official Porsche dealership in Schorndorf, Germany, in December of 1993 and was finished in the exceptionally rare Indian Red colour and fitted with the X88 option. It also features heated seats, the X92 and X93 ‘Exclusive’ front and rear spoilers, and XE2 quad exhaust and additional air intakes for brake cooling. This 3.6 Turbo has been carefully maintained and thoroughly enjoyed by just three owners over the course of its life. The car was repainted in its original colour in 2007 and had the clutch replaced at 101,000 km along with new brakes. Furthermore, the car has recently received all new seals, logos and front and rear windows renewed to only improve its immaculate presentation.

• Livrée neuve en Allemagne ; troisième main
• Bien documentée et méticuleusement entretenue
• Teinte d'origine "rouge indien"
