2005 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR

  • Chassis no. WP0ZZZ99Z5S693068
  • Engine no. G3528206

Documents: Bill of Sale

  • Delivered new to Estoril Racing
  • One of just 37 RSRs built
  • Recent rebuild of the original engine

Though it retained the classic 911 look, Porsche’s new-for-1998 996-generation 911 represented a drastic evolution in design by offering a water-cooled flat-six for the first time. As is typical with Porsche, a number of high-performance variants were soon offered. First, the dual-purpose GT3 was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show. This was soon followed by the GT3 RS, an even more powerful model that was suited to racing as well as being legal for use on public streets. Finally, the most exclusive and extreme 996, the track-only GT3 RSR was introduced.

Designed strictly for competition on the world’s most important racing circuits, the RSR was the ultimate development of the 996 line. Powered by a 450-bhp 3,598-cc flat-six backed with a six-speed sequential gearbox, and featuring a modified suspension and numerous carbon fibre panels, the RSR proved to be highly competitive. Only 37 RSRs were built. They were distributed to the top Porsche racing teams, including the Flying Lizard Motorsports team that won three of the four American Le Mans Series GT2 titles between 2005 and 2008 in RSRs.

Chassis no. 693068 has an extensive European competition history. The car was delivered new to Estoril Racing on 21 March 2005. It was driven by Michel and Claude Monteiro in the prestigious GT FFSA French Championship between 2005 and 2008.

More recently, the car passed to a collector with numerous racing cars in his garage. A comprehensive file of invoices shows that the car was regularly maintained, including a recent rebuild of the original engine with fewer than three hours of operation since completion.

This car represents an extremely rare opportunity to own a highly significant and immaculate racing machine with known competition history. Included with the sale is the car’s Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) technical passport, an invoice for the recent engine rebuild and a copy of the car’s original sales invoice.
