2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster

  • Chassis no. WDDAK76F78M001546
  • Engine no. 15598060001614

  • Just over 6,000 km from new
  • Recent major service at Mercedes-Benz Brooklands
  • Desirable specification

For 2007, Mercedes-Benz added even more drama into the SLR by introducing the SLR McLaren Roadster. Whilst the roof was removed, the ‘swing-wing’ doors remained, hinged to the A-pillars rather than the roof itself. Looking to not lose an ounce of excitement over the original SLR, engineers spent lots of time focusing on the car’s structural rigidity, and Mercedes claims that the drop top is just as rigid from the coupé. With a top speed of over 300 km/h, at its time, this was one of the fastest and most exciting convertibles money could buy.

Born as a U.S.-specification model, this specific SLR McLaren Roadster first arrived in the U.S. in late 2007. Built for the 2008 model year and finished in desirable black on black leather with red stitching, it was delivered new to Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan and then to its first owner in July of 2008 in Massachusetts. It remained with one owner until 2010 and at that time, it had been driven only 2,995 miles from new. In 2016 this SLR was imported into the UK by a known collector and was immediately entrusted to Mercedes-Benz Brooklands (the UK service center of excellence for SLR McLarens). The car has now been converted to EU specifications along with EU taxes paid.

Importantly, this SLR has received a major, engine-out, eight-year service by Steve Perret at Mercedes-Benz Brooklands at a cost of over £27,000 and is accompanied by invoices stating exactly what work was carried out. When serviced, the car had a mileage of 3,400 miles. Today, the car currently shows 3,728 miles on its odometer, or just over 6,000 km from new, and is in wonderful condition throughout. It has also had a treatment at Topaz Detailing London at a cost of over £3,000. This SLR Roadster is a great example of the partnership between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren, and it is now ready to be driven and enjoyed. We have no doubt the new owner will have many years of great experience in this rare example.
